The San Diego Padres will host the 2016 MLB All-Star Game at Petco Park.
It will be the 87th All-Star Game and the
third in San Diego. The Padres also hosted the 1978 and 1992 editions of the
Midsummer Classic at the team's former home, Qualcomm Stadium.
"I am very pleased to award the 2016 All-Star Game to the San Diego Padres, who made a detailed and comprehensive bid in conjunction with city officials," departing MLB commissioner Bud Selig said in a statement. "San Diego is one of America's most beautiful cities, and showcasing Petco Park in its thriving downtown will be a remarkable opportunity for the Padres franchise and all of Major League Baseball."
(The 2015 All-Star Game will be played in Cincinnati at Great American Ballpark.)

Q: What are the dates of the events surrounding the All-Star Game®?
All-Star Weekend is July 10-12, 2016. All-Star Sunday on July 10 includes the Celebrity Softball Game and Futures Game. All-Star Workout Day is Monday, July 11 and includes the Homerun Derby. The 2016 All-Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 12. Start times for all events will be released at a later point in time.
Q: May I purchase tickets to just the Home Run Derby® or just the All-Star Game®?
No. All-Star Game tickets are only available in strips. An All-Star Strip includes a ticket to All-Star Sunday, All-Star Workout Day, and the All-Star Game, along with two FanFest tickets and an All-Star program.
Q. When can I purchase ticket strips?
The official All-Star on sale dates have not yet been determined.
Q: I am a Padres Season Ticket Member; will I be guaranteed the ability to purchase tickets to the 2016 All-Star Game?
Existing Season Ticket Members will have first priority to purchase All-Star Game ticket strips in order of their tenure as Members. Because it is an MLB-controlled event, we cannot guarantee ability to purchase tickets at this time. We are working diligently with MLB on a ticket distribution plan and will provide more information as soon as we can.
Q: I am a prospective Padres Season Ticket Member; how can I be guaranteed the ability to purchase tickets to the 2016 All-Star Game?
Purchasing a Membership is the best way to get All-Star ticket access. Fans who become Season Ticket Members for the 2015 season and renew for 2016 will also have priority for purchasing All-Star Game ticket strips after existing Members.
